Board Member - Phillip Black
Hi
I am Phil Black. I am married to Susannah and we have 3 boys aged 8, 5 and 21 months. The two oldest boys Oscar and Archie are currently at Banks Ave in Keas and The Nest. Our youngest Henry will be joining the Banks Ave whanau when we are on our new site! Born and bred in Otautahi I grew up in the West but brought to the East by Mrs Black. |
Since leaving University many years ago I have worked in the International Freight industry which included a wee stint working in the USA. Currently I am the General Manager of a small locally owned wholesale freight company. We have a container packing/unpacking warehouse and 4 metro trucks delivering/collection freight around Otautahi.
Outside of work I enjoy spending time with the whanau. Whether it be sports myself, coaching the boys sports teams or just outside with the boys its always a busy time. Whitebaiting is also a passion and the boys are slowly getting this too. I recently completed my first marathon in Australia and was glad to cross the finish line!
I am a newly elected Board member this year. The reason I joined the Board is to be a part of my boys schooling and to understand how a school is run. I hope my skill set from the work place may help with this. We also have both an exciting and challenging time ahead with our new school build which I wanted to contribute to. I am excited to be a part of the Board, to learn more about the school and to help drive our school to be the best and provide the best schooling for all children attending Banks Ave.
You will find me picking up the boys most Tuesday’s so don't be afraid to stop me and have a chat.
