Remembering 22 February 2011
22 February 2011
We came together to remember the event 10 years ago that changed our lives, our community and our city forever.
It was a bittersweet moment as we looked back and remembered the devastation, the horror and the pain caused by the 2011 earthquakes.
Everybody has a story to tell and a memory that doesn’t fade.
However out of that horrific event that rocked our city and rocked our souls came much good. We can feel pride as we remember how we pulled together and supported each other through those dark days and those dark months that followed.
Communities pulled together, neighbours who had never spoken to each other were there for each other. Support in many forms poured into Christchurch from across the country and across the world.
I especially want to take a moment to acknowledge and thank all the school staff across Canterbury, who were suddenly thrown into a situation, on that day 10 years ago, that no drill or practice had ever prepared them for. Staff acted with love, common sense, empathy and HEART as they sat huddled, comforting and holding children, waiting for distraught parents to arrive and collect their tamariki. Teachers, learning assistants, office staff and others were selfless in their actions.
Ten years have passed and for many the journey has not been easy with botched earthquake repairs, ongoing anxiety and in our case a school that has yet to be re-built.
However as I write this I have faith and I have hope and I feel gratitude.
I am grateful for the progress that has been made, for the community that I belong to and for the amazing team I work with.
I have faith that as a school, as a community and as a city we will deal with any adversity that is thrown our way.
I have hope as I look to the future.

Welcome Back Everyone!
4 February 2021
Welcome back everyone. There was a buzz of excitement this morning as friends greeted each other and chatted about their holidays. We began the school year with a Mihi Whakatau to welcome all the new students and teachers to our school. The children then settled into their classes. Some even visited the Dental Nurse. Check out the photos of Day 1! What a happy bunch!
